Moo For Homeopathy!

Moo For Homeopathy!

There was an article in the BBC News, Monday, 19 June 2006 – Vets protest over homeopathy plan – “A group of vets has said they are concerned by European Commission proposals to legitimize the use of homeopathic remedies for animals”. Why is it that people are passionate about protesting things that they know little to nothing about?

Homeopathic medicine is a system that can be used on people, and animals, and yes, you will say it’s crazy, but even plants. In my day I have treated a few animals, including my own two standard poodles and cat. Shakespeare, our 10 year old, developed lymphosarcoma which I discovered last September. I tried treating him before taking him to a holistic vet to get the official diagnosis which I feared. The vet told me that Shakespeare would probably have another 6 weeks to live. I chose to continue treating him homeopathically and he died at home, without pain, about 8 weeks later. I was very sad that I couldn’t cure him but he was vital up until the day he died, even jumping at the door when the mailman came to deliver.

Let me end this blog on a high – A Case of The Attack Cat.

This was a young cat brought into the clinic on a last chance, side-trip, before getting the fatal needle. This cat belonged to a family of 4: parents, a son and a daughter. For some reason the cat kept attacking the 11 year old daughter while she was sleeping. This particular time he was hanging out on the open window sill in her room in the middle of the night. It was spring and, of course it was mating season. He turned on the girl as she slept and attacked her with his claws and his teeth. When I saw her the next day, deep scratches up her legs and arms, I wondered what kind of a personality this cat could have. After taking the case I found a remedy which suited him very nicely, and – you guessed it – the cat is still with us.

The vets might be upset about homeopaths being legitimized but I bet the animals aren’t!

I don’t know how long BBC keeps their articles on line….
