Metabolic Balance® Program

The Metabolic Balance® Program is a complete nutritional program, which includes grocery lists, meal plans, recipes, private community resources and a personal Metabolic Balance® Coach to support and encourage you on your journey to optimal wellbeing.

Metabolic Balance has 8 guiding principles that participants are asked to adopt to ensure a sustainable improvement in quality of life. The program has four phases in which you reset your metabolism and reach a steady state of maintenance and well-being.

The 8 Rules of Metabolic Balance

To successfully implement the program, Metabolic Balance® asks that participants follow these 8 simple rules:

  1. Eat only three meals per day.
  2. Ensure a five-hour break between your meals.
  3. Eat each meal within a 60-minute period.
  4. Begin each meal with a small amount of protein.
  5. Only include one kind of protein at each meal.
  6. Do not eat after 9:00 pm.
  7. Drink at least your prescribed portion of water.
  8. Eat your fruit portion (including an apple every day) at the end of each meal.

Each of these rules ensures that your body can optimally process the food in your prescribed diet.

The 4 Phases of Metabolic Balance®

The Metabolic Balance® Program is broken down into four phases, intended to cleanse and detox, then slowly transition you to a state that can be maintained for life:

  • Phase 1: Cleanse (2 days)
  • Phase 2: Detox (14 days)
  • Phase 3: Relaxed Conversion (until you reach the target)
  • Phase 4: Maintenance (indefinite)

Metabolic Balance® Phase 1: Cleanse

Duration: 2 days

The first phase of the Metabolic Balance Program is a short but intense cleanse to clear your intestines and prepare your body for your new diet and lifestyle. During the cleanse, you may only eat light foods, as prescribed. As your body adapts and consumes fat reserves, you will reach keto metabolism. People generally do not experience hunger. Be sure to drink plenty of water in Phase 1.

Metabolic Balance® Phase 2: Detox

Duration: At least 14 days

The second phase of the Metabolic Balance Program is a detox to eliminate toxins from your body, removing inflammatory markers and neutralizing acidity. During this phase, your diet will consist of plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, with a balance of protein. During the detox phase, it is crucial to strictly follow the 8 Rules of Metabolic Balance. Completing this phase is a rewarding experience.

Metabolic Balance® Phase 3: Relaxed Conversion

Duration: Until you reach your target

In the Relaxed Conversion phase, you may add your prescribed fat into your diet.

Metabolic Balance® Phase 4: Maintenance

Duration: Indefinite

Once you’ve reached your target and internalized the lifestyle change, you can begin to add foods into your diet in a way that is healthy for your metabolism.

Metabolic Balance® Diet

Each diet prescribed under the Metabolic Balance® Program is unique to your blood test results. The Metabolic Balance® diet consists of specific foods that contain the macronutrients (fats, carbs, and proteins), vitamins and minerals essential for rebalancing your hormones and your weight. Importantly, the Metabolic Balance® Diet also omits foods that trigger your specific intolerances and allergies.

The Metabolic Balance diet is especially effective in treating metabolic syndrome and modern lifestyle diseases.

How does the Metabolic Balance® Blood Test Work?

Once you have signed up for the Metabolic Balance Program, your Metabolic Balance® coach requisitions a blood test for you, which can be taken at your local lab. Your blood test results will be sent to the Metabolic Balance® Head Office in Germany for analysis.

The blood analysis looks at 36 blood values and parameters and provides precise information on your health, your metabolism, and any deficiencies in key elements associated with metabolic dysfunction. Your blood test results are then combined with your personal health data and your food list, which becomes the basis of your Metabolic Balance diet.

Why does Metabolic Balance look at your blood?

Blood supplies the body with oxygen and nutrients.

Your blood replenishes organs and tissues throughout your body; it can also carry inflammatory markers and transmit signs of disease.

Based on your blood values, we analyze which nutrients are deficient and how this may impact your body system.  Your blood also reveals how your organs are functioning and can point out areas of potential risk and disease.

Blood analysis has long been the most reliable and minimally invasive means to identify and treat obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and any other diseases. At Metabolic Balance, our method of identifying markers of potential concern is our greatest advantage.

The data gathered allows our team to tailor a nutrition plan custom-made for you based on the lab values, your health history, and your wellness goals.  Additionally, should we note any medical risks, we will advise you to consult with your physician for additional follow-up.

There are 36 blood values and parameters that are analyzed and provide precise information on your health, your metabolism, and any deficiencies in key elements associated with metabolic dysfunction.  Your blood report is then combined with your personal data and your food list, becoming the basis of your Metabolic Balance nutrition plan.

This enables us to select exactly the right foods that match your nutritional requirements – giving your body the best possible metabolic balance.

Metabolic Balance® Avoids the Yo-Yo Effect

The yo-yo effect refers to the gaining of weight back, or even gaining more weight than lost, after being on a diet.  The yo-yo effect happens when you restrict too much, limiting a macronutrient (carbs, fat, protein) or calories,  and the body rebels by slowing the metabolism.  You don’t lose weight as quickly and you are likely to gain more weight over the long term.

The correct amount of macronutrients is very important and this is one of the keys to the successful sustainability of the  Metabolic Balance Program.  Why is the correct amount of macronutrients important?  All three macronutrients (protein, carbohydrates, fat) are necessary in certain amounts to ensure a functioning body and a healthy metabolism.  Metabolic Balance recommends as follows:

Carbohydrate: 40-45%

Fat: 30-35%

Protein: 20-30%

If you decide to change your lifestyle with Metabolic Balance, you do not need to fear the yo-yo effect. Metabolic Balance is a change in diet and lifestyle according to the latest scientific findings which can be applied to your daily life, the long-term. When you lose weight in the long term with the help of an optimally coordinated metabolic change you will enjoy the long-term effect: weight can be kept off soundly.

Why I Became a Metabolic Balance Coach

While diet and nutrition has always been an integral part of my practice, my personal experience with Metabolic Balance is what tipped the scale for me. Below, I discuss why I chose to become a Metabolic Coach after doing the program myself.

Diet and Nutrition in My Practice

I have been practicing homeopathy for over 20 years and diet and nutrition have always been integral to my practice. I have a dedicated shelf in my office bookcase just for diets and nutrition, and have long ascribed to the Aryuvedic proverb that when the diet is wrong, medicine is of no use; when the diet is right, medicine is of no need.”

In past practice, I often recommended food prescriptions (or restrictions) to my patients for a wide range of conditions when it became clear that the food they were eating was a contributing factor.

My Struggle With Weight Loss and Metabolic Syndrome

I have always been a conscious eater, and vegetables were the anchor of 2 meals a day. Despite my best efforts to stay healthy and fit, as the years grace me, my genetics have had a different plan.

I have had hypothyroidism for over 30 years – a condition well-known to inhibit weight loss. As well, a number of years ago I was also diagnosed with Metabolic Syndrome (a combination of high blood sugar, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure, plus obesity). I tried intermittent fasting for a couple of years, tried vegetarian and vegan diets, and even tried cutting out grains. For the life of me, I could not change the numbers on the blood results or move the needle on my scale. A few years later, I needed an angioplasty and had a stent put in.

I take after my father, genetically. Although a vibrant soon-to-be 95-year-old, he had triple bypass surgery a number of years back. Looking forward, I started to feel helpless about my inability to manage my weight and accompanying lifestyle diseases.

When talking about my struggles with a homeopathic colleague and friend, she mentioned that she was a Metabolic Coach and suggested I might want to try the program.

My Results with Metabolic Balance

After 3 months on the program, I was astounded at the weight loss, although that was not the reason I went on the Metabolic Balance Plan. The weight loss was just a bonus. I found that I was able to reduce and/or come off of medication as my blood results changed over the years. Blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar, levels dropped. Insulin rebalanced.

I still follow the rules. I love the food and the discipline. My favorite time is breakfast, which I never had before, oatmeal with goat’s milk, a red delicious apple with cinnamon, and a cup of black coffee.  If you had told me 5 years ago this would happen in the future I would have laughed and ridiculed the idea, especially the coffee. I have always been a double-double girl.

I feel great, and I’m happy to get to share the experience.

Metabolic Cycles and Stages of Life

Fertility, Pregnancy, and Raising a Family

Stress and obesity are believed to contribute to infertility, impacting couples struggling to conceive naturally.  Nutrition plays a significant role in supporting a healthy menstrual cycle and improving fertility outcomes. Through a healthy and balanced diet, as is personally crafted by Metabolic Balance an optimal supply of micronutrients, essential proteins, healthy carbohydrates, and fats is delivered.

A well-balanced meal plan can reduce weight and re-balance hormones, the key to setting the stage for a healthy pregnancy and delivery and for the energy needed to raise a family.

Menopause and Weight Gain

The hormonal fluctuations and shifts a woman experiences during her perimenopausal and menopausal years can wreak havoc on maintaining a healthy, desired weight.

Personally selected, high-nutrient whole foods, based on blood values, health history, and wellness goals can help women safely and effectively reach their ideal weight.

A Metabolic Balance nutrition plan can directly benefit you by providing essential nutrients and vital substances that are often lacking during this stage of life.

The Elderly and Nutrition

Aging brings changes to our body’s balance of fat and lean tissue, as we move from middle age to our senior years, the natural tendency is to have more fat and less muscle, resulting in the potential for increased risks of falls and fractures.

Decreasing digestive function is another concern of aging, leading to poor absorption and availability of nutrients.

Any nutritional intervention for seniors should focus on maintaining and improving their quality of life.  The earlier your nutritional shortcomings are identified and rectified with the right approach, the more likely that the aging process will be well supported for the best outcome.  The Metabolic Balance program can be a  powerful ally in the prevention of nutrition-related disorders.

What does your metabolism need: Enzymes and hormones

Metabolism is regulated by enzymes and hormones. They control vital functions. Enzymes act like catalysts, they set bodily functions in motion and are decisively involved in chemical conversion processes. The hormones produced by your body’s glands – such as insulin from the pancreas – interact directly with many control systems and are responsible for the entire “energy management” of your body.

To maintain their structures and functions, enzymes and hormones need building materials and they obtain these from the food you eat each day. If the necessary nutrients are not supplied or in insufficient quantities, your metabolism can easily become imbalanced – and this leads to more than just being overweight: there are many metabolic illnesses that develop when your metabolism is derailed – such as acquired diabetes type II. This is why the right diet is a basic prerequisite for a regulated enzyme and hormone balance – and this is precisely where the personalized Metabolic Balance nutrition plan comes in. Personal dietary recommendations are made based on your blood values and individual data because each and every one of us is an individual with his or her own dietary habits. This is how you give your organism the food it really needs, restoring your metabolic balance in a completely natural way.
