Metabolic Balance® Program
The Metabolic Balance® Program is a complete nutritional program, which includes grocery lists, meal plans, recipes, private community resources and a personal Metabolic Balance® Coach to support and encourage you on your journey to optimal wellbeing.
Metabolic Balance has 8 guiding principles that participants are asked to adopt to ensure a sustainable improvement in quality of life. The program has four phases in which you reset your metabolism and reach a steady state of maintenance and wellbeing.
The 8 Rules of Metabolic Balance
To successfully implement the program, Metabolic Balance® asks that participants follow these 8 simple rules:
- Eat only three meals per day.
- Ensure a five hour break between your meals.
- Eat each meal within a 60 minute period.
- Begin each meal with a small amount of protein.
- Only include one kind of protein at each meal.
- Do not eat after 9:00 pm.
- Drink at least your prescribed portion of water.
- Eat your fruit portion (including an apple every day) at the end of each meal.
Each of these rules ensures that your body can optimally process the food in your prescribed diet.
The 4 Phases of Metabolic Balance®
The Metabolic Balance® Program is broken down into four phases, intended to cleanse and detox, then slowly transition you to a state that can be maintained for life:

Metabolic Balance® Phase 1: Cleanse
Duration: 2 days
The first phase of the Metabolic Balance Program is a short but intense cleanse to clear your intestines and prepare your body for your new diet and lifestyle. During the cleanse, you may only eat light foods, as prescribed. As your body adapts and consumes fat reserves, you will reach keto metabolism. People generally do not experience hunger. Be sure to drink plenty of water in Phase 1.
Metabolic Balance® Phase 2: Detox
Duration: At least 14 days
The second phase of the Metabolic Balance Program is a detox to eliminate toxins from your body, removing inflammatory markers and neutralizing acidity. During this phase, your diet will consist of plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, with a balance of protein. During the detox phase, it is crucial to strictly follow the 8 Rules of Metabolic Balance. Completing this phase is a rewarding experience.
Metabolic Balance® Phase 3: Relaxed Conversion
Duration: Until you reach your target
In the Relaxed Conversion phase, you may add your prescribed fat into your diet.
Metabolic Balance® Phase 4: Maintenance
Once you’ve reached your target and internalized the lifestyle change, you can begin to add foods into your diet in a way that is healthy for your metabolism.
Metabolic Balance® Diet
Each diet prescribed under the Metabolic Balance® Program is unique to your blood test results. The Metabolic Balance® diet consists of specific foods that contain the macronutrients (fats, carbs, and proteins), vitamins and minerals essential for rebalancing your hormones and your weight. How does the Metabolic Balance® Blood Test Work?
Once you have signed up for the Metabolic Balance Program,your Metabolic Balance® coach requisitions a blood test for you, which can be taken at your local lab. Your blood test results will be sent to the Metabolic Balance® Head Office in Germany for analysis.
The blood analysis looks at 36 blood values and parameters and provides precise information on your health, your metabolism and any deficiencies in key elements associated with metabolic dysfunction. Your blood test results are then combined with your personal health data and your food list, which becomes the basis of your Metabolic Balance diet.

Why I became a Metabolic Balance Coach
While diet and nutrition has always been an integral part of my practice, my personal experience with Metabolic Balance is what tipped the scale for me. Below, I discuss why I chose to become a Metabolic Coach after doing the program myself.
Diet and Nutrition in My Practice
I have been practicing homeopathy for over 20 years and diet and nutrition has always been integral to my practice. I have a dedicated shelf in my office bookcase just for diets and nutrition, and have long ascribed to the Aryuvedic proverb that “when the diet is wrong, medicine is of no use; when the diet is right, medicine is of no need.”
In past practice, I often recommended food prescriptions (or restrictions) to my patients for a wide range of conditions when it became clear that the food they were eating was a contributing factor.
My Struggle With Weight Loss and Metabolic Syndrome
I have always been a conscious eater, and vegetables were the anchor of 2 meals a day. Despite my best efforts to stay healthy and fit, as the years grace me, my genetics have had a different plan.
I have had hypothyroidism for over 30 years – a condition well-known to inhibit weight loss. As well, a number of years ago I was also diagnosed with Metabolic Syndrome (a combination of high blood sugar, high cholesterol and high blood pressure, plus obesity). I tried intermittent fasting for a couple of years, tried vegetarian and vegan diets, and even tried cutting out grains. For the life of me, I could not change the numbers on the blood results or move the needle on my scale. A few years later, I needed an angioplasty and had a stent put in.
I take after my father, genetically. Although a vibrant soon-to-be 95 year old, he had triple by-pass surgery a number of years back. Looking forward, I started to feel helpless about my inability to manage my weight and accompanying lifestyle diseases.
When talking about my struggles with a homeopathic colleague and friend, she mentioned that she was a Metabolic Coach and suggested I might want to try the program.
My Results with Metabolic Balance
After 3 months on the program I was astounded at the weight loss, although that was not the reason I went on the Metabolic Balance Plan. The weight loss was just a bonus. I found that I was able to reduce and/or come off of medication as my blood results changed over the years. Blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, levels dropped. Insulin rebalanced.
I still follow the rules. I love the food and the discipline. My favourite time is breakfast, which I never had before, oatmeal with goat’s milk, a red delicious apple with cinnamon and a cup of black coffee. If you would have told me 5 years ago this would happen in the future I would have laughed and ridiculed the idea, especially the coffee. I have always been a double-double girl.
